About Amy

Creating the beauty that surrounds me...

Hello!  My name is Amy Douglas.

I am an artist passionate about modern abstract art.

My art styles vary from bold statement pieces to delicate, earth-toned, neutral, and minimalistic art.

I love to be challenged, experiment, and push boundaries!

With modern abstract art, there is always something exciting and new!  The endless colors, tools, and techniques are always a fun challenge.  The learning process seems unending!

I am in LOVE with the natural world that surrounds us!  Traveling, waterfalls, oceans, mountains, exploring, and adventure are some of my favorite things.  Thoughtfully, I bring these elements into my modern abstract art using colors, texture, mark-making, and many other techniques to create moods, interest, and depth.

By the use of color choices, I can create feelings such as nostalgia, serenity, or even excitement.  A special technique that I love is placing newspaper, poems, excerpts, or prints into an abstract painting to create a unique, one-of-a-kind composition. Sometimes, only those who take the time to look more closely will find these hidden gems.

Learning as an artist has added value to my life, and I love having the opportunity to share my experiences.  My hopes are that something I say or demonstrate will spark creativity and curiosity in you!

on a more personal note...

When I'm not covered "in Studio" you'll find me...

Living my happily-ever-after in a small-town oasis, Smithville, Texas... only minutes from Austin.

I am a wife and mother to two wonderful kiddos.  My family and I live on a ranch with an expanse of blue skies and plenty of room to breathe and explore.  We love animals and have two dogs, a curious kitten, a bearded dragon lizard, cattle, chickens, and a very own special little deer that has decided that we are her family.

I am so happy that you took the time to know me a little better.

This is my creative journey...

I hope you will be inspired along the way!

Very Truly Yours,

Amy Douglas
